Description:

Ballet Kelowna triumphantly returns with Choreographer Alysa Pires’ wildly successful theatrical ballet, Macbeth-a visually stunning and familiar, but no less compelling, full-length adaptation that explores the dark side of human nature with its timely, and timeless, themes of ambition, power, and corruption that characterize William Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy.

This acclaimed, dazzling production infuses Macbeth with high-stakes drama and suspense. An original score of toil and trouble by Canadian composer Adam Sakiyama and stunning visuals by Okanagan artist Jane Everett set the scene for an exploration of psychological decay.

Considered one of Shakespeare’s best-loved plays, Macbeth follows the story of the titular character, a brave soldier and powerful man, whose heady ambitions to Scotland’s throne turn him into a callous, yet tortured, murderer, spurred on by his equally determined wife, Lady Macbeth. As Macbeth and Lady Macbeth become hopelessly entangled by their atrocities, the pair descend into madness.
